My first update was on Monday called “NaNoWriMo: And So It Begins.” Check it out here. And now it’s continuing. It’s already the second Monday! (No way!) I’ve made lots of progress with badges, word count, and characters.
Every Monday is the same format. However, there are a few things added in “Writing Habits,” it’s much more thorough now. π
Name of Project: Shadows in the Tide
Plot:
Vanessa and Elizabeth are best friends. When Vanessa invited Elizabeth to a family/friends gathering, things go awry. Her uncle turns up missing. Kidnapped, is what Elizabeth says. Yet the cops say he was βoldβ and probably just fell off a cliff while hiking; they continue to investigate. Vanessa is leaning more towards Elizabeth claims. They set out to be Nancy Drew and George, (at least thatβs what Elizabeth says), and find the truth from all the clues.
Chapters Done & What They Are Featuring:
I finished Chapter 2. I like long chapters, so I’m pretty happy with this. We introduced some minor conflict, more characters, and had the first family dinner at the family reunion. The family reunion is where it got a bit confusing for me, personally, because there are a lot of characters I had to introduce! π And, like I said, I put in some minor conflict between the family. Because, what family reunion doesn’t have conflict? π Also, I did the Epilogue and a few parts here and there. I don’t always do it in order.
Page Count: 10
Word Count: 3945
Where I Write:
If you’re in NaNo, you know that NaNoWriMo has a “stats” page. You can see where you wite on average, how fast you type on average, and things like that. I tend to write at the library. I have a big break between two of my classes and I write then a lot in the library at my school. It’s pretty quiet and I can focus with ease.
Writing Habits:
I tend to write to relieve stress, which puts me in a good mood. Or I write because I”m in a good mood and feel like creating something, (in this case, a world). I usually drink Soda while I write, I’ve noticed. Who knew!
When I Write:
I’ve written mostly 12-1. I like to write all throughout the day. Usually, I have more scheduled times, but this is NaNo! So, it changes a couple of things.
Badges & Badge Goals:
I got a couple! I have the Eureka Moment badge, I figured lots of things out and had that lightbulb moment. π And I cheered other Wrimo’s on; which is always a joy. I also updated my word count again and again, so I got my “Update Word Count Three Days in a Row” Badge. I didn’t quite make it to seven days in a row, which is the next badge for this, so I don’t have that one. I also updated my word count at 1,667! I’m glad I got that one. It’s the little things, ya know? πΒ I plan to get two this week. I hope to get the 5K and 10K word count badges, (I’m still a bit behind!) And the “Update Word Count 7 Days in a Row.”

I hope you liked this post! It was super fun to write. π And I can’t wait for the next NaNo post. Really quick: there was no post on the 8th (Friday) because I was quite busy. This Friday coming up I will have aΒ Fall Photoshoot;Β which I’m super excited about.
Awesome! I’m working on NaNoWriMo right now. I have 10200 words so far, but I SHOULD have 11000 *facepalm*

Good job on writing what you did!
I speak from experience when I say no one would think any less of you if you decided to change your goal. Wait, is your goal 50k? Because I think you may have to drop it down a little. But I mean, there is always Thanksgiving break you work on it! Just, donβt get discouraged if you arenβt where you want to be, because honestly? Youβre doing this for yourself.

Yes. My goal is 50K. I may change it, but I doubt it. Thanks.
