Sorry, I’m posting this a bit later in the day. Haha. But here I am!
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” ~John 15:13
Everyone has heard this verse. I love this verse. What do you think when you think about this verse? I automatically think when you step in front of a car just to push them out of the way, right? Yep. That’s the typical answer. However, I was thinking about sacrifice.
Let me put something together here. Sacrifice, then the ultimate sacrifice. (Death on the cross). So, the ultimate is death, but you know what else Jesus Christ did?
He taught us. Sacrificed His time. Gave up His could-be lifestyle.
That’s also sacrifice. He lived a life of sacrifice; which means that not everything sacrificial is death. And if you lead it around John 15:13 could mean if you lay down…not your life, but your time and “could-be lifestyle” like Jesus did; which we are supposed to be like Him.
This verse isn’t (just) about committing an act of courageousness but laying down your wants for others.
Do you do this to your friends? To your enemies?
