Hello! I once did a post on “A Phrase I Hate” but it was forever ago, (1) and (2) I have some new ones. π And more than one for that matter.
π¬This Sectionπ
#1: I Get It
Here’s the thing. I have nothing against this phrase…but it’s when people say it and they don’t mean it. Or they think they do and they really don’t. For example, you’re friend tells you that people are spreading lies about you and one of your friends (that you thought you could trust) believes them! You pat her on the back and say “I get it.” when you have never had a fake friend, gotten bullied, or have a lie been told about you in your life. The thing is, you don’t. I don’t automatically not like people when they use this phrase, or anything (just to be clear) I just don’t personally like using this phrase lightly. π
#2: I Promise You Everything Will Be Fine
Parents, at least in movies, always say this to their kids in dire situations when they don’t know if everything is going to be okay. I wouldn’t say that to my children, why? I don’t want to lie to them. I get why people say it, (for security and so they feel better), but I don’t believe it is right.
#3: Lit
Hahahahaha. π This has a “new meaning” which is “cool” “off the charts awesome” etc. But, it had a bad meaning back in the day and I don’t think people should use it. It does make me laugh sometimes though. π
#4: Overusing “Like”
Honestly, this had become a phrase. It’s used way too often. I had a problem for a while. It’s not good when you use this one…all…the…time… π
#5: What Does the Fox Say?
This is in honor of my friend Elisha at Africa Boy. He hates it and so do I. I don’t think this needs any more explanation.

#1: You See What Happened Was
Oh my gosh. This has to be said in a certain way to be funny. We (family) uses this when we are in “trouble.” Gets me every time.
#2: Busy As A Bee
I love this because it is a metaphor and bees really are busy. π
#3: I Love You to the Moon & Back
I love this phrase. I just do! It’s a great way to say ‘I love you.’
#4: Nailed It
I don’t know how it really makes sense, but it does. β€ I use it all the time. And now the movie Turbo has me saying “Snailed it!”
#5: Laughter is the Best Medicine
This is one of the best truths in my opinion. Just sayin’.
Bonus! (Words I Love!)
I was going to say this as a phrase but it’s just one word…so, here we are!
#1: Y’all
Yes, yes, and yes! I love this one. π I’m Southern, it’s true. Haha. But, no, I don’t sound Texan, basically at all. But I do love saying y’all.
#2: Oof
This is more of a modern term as well but I love it, personally. β€ “Oof” means “ouch” “darn” etc.
#3: Vivacious
I like to use this to describe characters because it immediately brings a picture of a very happy and energetic person!
#4: Gotcha
I love saying this, I don’t know why. It’s way more fun that “got it” or “I understand” or “I see.”
#5: Coolio
This is way more fun that cool in my personal and humble opinion. It’s really fun to say…how many of you just tried? Lol. π
I hope this was a fun post for ya! π
What are some phrases you hate/love?

I hate when people say βthatβs sick!β Thereβs nothing good about being sick!!
I love anything people tell me honestly.

Oh my gosh, me too. π I hate that one.

It’s a slang expression, LOL. That’s ‘cool’ doesn’t mean you’re cold, but it’s still one I say all the time. ‘Sick’ is kind of the same way.

I know itβs a term for βcoolβ but really… thereβs nothing βcoolβ about being sick lol!

Yes, Mercy. It may make sense in words but some people just don’t like it.

And there’s nothing ‘cold’ about being cool and saying ‘swell’ doesn’t mean you’re literally swelling. They’re just figures of speech is all. XD

Obviously Iβve rubbed you the wrong way. Iβm sorry.
