School Struggles & How To Fix Them 😁 (Random Tips)

Hello! Most of us are in school, right? I know I am. Even if I am graduating early I am still in school now. I wanted to share some school struggles and try to help with those struggles with platforms and ideas for you to work with. 🙂

Whether you are a planner, three years ahead, struggling academically, ten, or seventeen there is a chance you struggle in school, at least one subject.

• Too much to memorize
• Math is…just I don’t know
• Science is confusing
• Can’t spell anything
• Can’t pronounce anything (this is mostly science, history names-possibly-and learning a different language)

Some things are hard. It’s true.

I am going to help you with these different thoughts and all that. Let’s get started.

There are a lot of ways to help memory. Sometimes people are born with amazing memories and other times people find it really hard to memorize things.

• Quizlet

Not only is Quizlet free, (if you get a certain plan) and you can make flashcards on it, you can always test yourself and play matching games, it’s so fun! This is Quizlet, check it out!

• Flashcards

A lot of people like paper! I know I do. Index cards are cheap and memory important. Get a pencil and write it out, then put the definition on the back. This is so helpful.

• Write/Hear/Read

This is a super cool way to do it. Now, you write your word 10x and you say it and read it as you write it. So you’re writing it, hearing it, and reading it. It really does work. Just 10 times, too! You can do it more, whatever it takes.

• Re-Reading

You can always re-read stuff! I love doing this. Sometimes it gives me a new perspective and I catch stuff, (like is hard books), I didn’t see before that may or may not be important.

• Tabs/Sticky Notes

If you are reading I like to puts tabs in my books so I can find a quote or a date I may need for my answers in text analysis later. It’s easy to find and easy to remember so you can remember something more important. Also, if you turn to that sticky note/tab enough you may even memorize the quote!

I’m not good at math…like at all! But, I do have some tips that I think may help YOU out! Again, flashcards/Quizlet/re-reading…everything I said for memory works with everything. But, now we are getting to specific subjects and I don’t want to make you re-read a blog post saying the same tips. So, try this:

Saxon Math, Math U See, Abeka Math…all these are different curriculums that may work for you! Try them out. 😀 People learn different ways and that’s totally cool. If you’re Mom can’t help you ask your sister if she is a geek for math, or friends, other family members, and there is always YouTube tutorials. (Trust me, I’ve used them for crafts, some design stuff, and other such things, they are really helpful).

Sometimes science is a pain, other times it’s super fun. I love Zoology, Botany, Marine Biology, and Astronomy. I did well at all of those, Astronomy was my weakest, though. Now I have harder sciences like Biology last year and Chemistry this year. Want help? (Go to memory section)! And you can always do different curriculums and YouTube/Google, you’ll be amazed on what you find there. Tutors are a good idea if you’re really struggling with really any topic. At VSA they have tutors and classes if you want to consider that. 🙂

I also suggest making graphs! Graphs are easy to make and can lead to all sorts of stuff. You can do one like a family tree, for example, this flower is called, sub-species is:…and so on! It’s helpful. If you are a hands-on-learner go outside!

Spelling can be hard. I’ve gotten better but sometimes I just get confused!

• Say it like it is spelled when you are writing it out

This may help you remember. For example: hi-ppo-pot-o-mus…just a little by little. 😀

• Write it out

Write it out over and over (possibly with a def.) two birds with one stone! 😉

• Try and find a word similar to it to relate it to

Do make sure the word you relate it to is one you know how to spell!

This may seem like a silly problem to some, but’s it’s not.

• Say it over and over as you write it
• Listen to it
• If you don’t know how to, (not just forget) look it up on YouTube, “How to say (Word)”
• Find a word it’s like that you can say. If the word is controversial (it’s an easy word but it’s good for an example) think con, as in opposite or pro with an “n” and verse in the middle…see where I’m going? I’m out of examples but I’ve done it many times. 🙂
